CYCLONES ADD BARRETT TO 2017-18 ROSTER

Forward Marks First Rookie Signing of the Summer

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Rochester Americans and the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Buffalo Sabres, have signed forward Michael Barrett to a Standard Player Contract (SPC) for the 2017-18 season.

“Mike is a very skilled player who brings a lot of offensive ability to our forward group,” remarked Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald. “We feel his game will translate well to the professional level and we look forward to him being a mainstay in our lineup.”

Barrett recently wrapped up a successful collegiate career at the College of Holy Cross, accounting for 99 points (44g, 55a) in 147 career games for the Crusaders. His best year offensively came during his senior year this past season, as he ranked second on the team and 18th in the conference in scoring with 27 points (11g, 18a). He recorded his lone collegiate hat trick in his fourth-to-last game back on February 24, in a 5-4 win over Bentley.  He also served as an assistant captain during his senior season.

“I am very excited to start my career with the Cincinnati Cyclones,” said Barrett. “The Cyclones are an excellent organization and I’m looking forward to getting things going this fall.”

A native of Orland Park, IL, Barrett spent his lone year of junior hockey with the New Jersey Hitmen of the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL), where he accounted for six goals and 22 assists in 34 games. He also led the team in playoff scoring that season, totaling 13 points (5g, 8a) in eight games.
