CYCLONES COLLECT FIRST WIN IN OVERTIME THRILLER

Cincinnati Dominates Game Offensively Throughout

Ft. Wayne, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (1-1-1-0) picked up a 3-2 overtime win against the Ft. Wayne Komets on Friday night. Forwards Winston Day Chief and Andrew Radjenovic lit the lamp in regulation, while forward and assistant captain Shawn O’Donnell recorded the winner in overtime.

After a scoreless first period in which the Cyclones controlled the play offensively and held the Komets to just four shots in the frame, Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead when Day Chief jammed in a rebound off a shot from forward Dominic Zombo, 6:47 into the second.

The Cyclones extended their lead to 2-0 later in the period when defenseman Brycen Martin found Radjenovic in the right circle, and he snapped it past Ft. Wayne goaltender Michael Houser.

Ft. Wayne managed to cut the Cyclones’ lead in half with less than a minute to play in the frame when forward Artur Tyanulin beat Cincinnati goaltender Anthony Peters to pull the Komets to within a goal, 2-1.

Cincinnati took their 2-1 lead into the locker room after 40 minutes, and in the third the Komets struck early when forward Zac Larraza lit the lamp 3:43 in.

The Cyclones tilted the offense back in their favor throughout the remainder of the third, receiving multiple quality scoring opportunities.  As he did all game, Houser made a number of remarkable saves to keep the game tied, 2-2, and force overtime. Cincinnati only needed 30 seconds of extra time to notch the win, as Zombo sent a pass from the slot to O’Donnell on the back side, and he slid it in past Houser to give Cincinnati the 3-2 overtime win.

The Cyclones outshot the Komets, 25-24, with Peters turning aside 22 in the win. Cincinnati wraps up their two-game weekend on Saturday night in Kalamazoo against the Wings. Face-off is scheduled for 7:00pm ET.
