Long-Time AHLer with NHL Experience Set to Call Cincinnati Home

 

Cincinnati, OH- Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Matt Macdonald has announced that forward Peter LeBlanc has signed a Standard Player Contract (SPC) for the 2016-2017 season.

“We are happy to announce the signing of Peter Leblanc, who brings great character along with a high level of experience to our organization,” remarked Macdonald. “Peter can contribute in all areas of the ice and we believe he will be an immediate impact player for us. We will rely on him in high pressure situations, and he will bring an element we are looking for to help push us in the right direction from the start of the season."

A native of Hamilton, ON, LeBlanc is coming off of a pair of successful European seasons, accounting for 28 points in 96 games between Swedish side Rögle BK, and Finnish squad HPK, from 2014-2016.

LeBlanc has spent the majority of his playing career in the American Hockey League (AHL), appearing in 261 games with the Rockford IceHogs and Hershey Bears.  He racked up 60 goals along with 72 assists from 2010-2014, and enjoyed a career-high 44-point season (24g, 20a) in 2011-12 with the IceHogs, leading the team in goals and finishing second in points.

During the 2013-14 season, the 28-year-old got a taste of the National Hockey League (NHL), appearing in one game with the Washington Capitals. He also suited up in 65 games with the Hershey Bears that season, tallying 12 goals and dishing out 16 assists.

Drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, LeBlanc began his pro career in 2010-11. He recorded 22 points (8g, 14a) in 22 games with the Toledo Walleye, before getting called up to Rockford where he was responsible for 12 goals 18 assists. 

LeBlanc played collegiately for the University of New Hampshire from 2006-10, and served as team captain during his senior season in 2009-10. He finished his 153-game career for Wildcats with 34 goals and 51 assists for 85 total points.
