CYCLONES DROP TIGHT ONE IN FT. WAYNE

Cincinnati’s Late Charge Not Enough to Overcome Stellar Komets Goaltending

Ft. Wayne, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (34-27-4-0) fell to the Ft. Wayne Komets, 1-0, on Saturday night. Despite the loss, Cincinnati still remains just three points back of second place in the ECHL’s South Division.

After a scoreless opening period that saw the Cyclones receive a number of Grade A scoring chances, The Komets took a 1-0 lead late in the second on a goal from forward Gabriel Desjardins.

That 1-0 Komets lead held up throughout the remainder of the second, and in the third the Cyclones continued to find a myriad of quality scoring chances, including several in the final minutes of the game. Despite the increased offensive opportunities, Komets goaltender Garrett Bartus was perfect on the night, and preserved the Komets’ 1-0 win.

Ft. Wayne outshot Cincinnati, 33-27 on the night, with goaltender Michael Houser turning aside 32 in the loss. The Cyclones return home on Wednesday to take on the Brampton Beast in the first all-time meeting between the two sides. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
