CYCLONES RUN INTO HOT HILDEBRAND, FALL ON STAR WARS NIGHT

Cincinnati’s Busy Week Comes to an End

Cincinnati, OH-The Cincinnati Cyclones (12-9-1-0) we upended by the Tulsa Oilers, 3-1, on Saturday night. Forward Jesse Schultz scored the lone goal for Cincinnati, while forward Justin Danforth extended his point streak to 10 games.

The Cyclones wasted little time finding the back of the net in this one, as just 3:24 into the opening period, a shot from Danforth was turned aside by Oilers netminder Jake Hildebrand, but Schultz was on the back door to tap it in and give Cincinnati a 1-0 lead.

The Cyclones took their 1-0 lead into the locker room after the opening period, and in the second Tulsa took the lead early in the frame on back-to-back goals from forward Vladimir Nikiforov to give Tulsa a 2-1 edge through two periods.

The third saw Cincinnati send wave after wave of shots at Hildebrand, however the Oilers backstop came up with a myriad of remarkable saves to keep the ‘Clones to a single goal. Tulsa put the game away late in the period when defenseman Steven Kaunisto lit the lamp to seal the Oilers’ 3-1 win.

Cincinnati was outshot, 29-25 on the night, with goaltender Jonas Johansson stopping 29 in the loss. Cincinnati looks to halt their skid on Wednesday night when they host the Ft. Wayne Komets. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
