O’DONNELL BACK FOR THIRD SEASON IN CINCINNATI

Forward Brings 44 Points Back From a Season Ago

 

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Buffalo Sabres and the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Rochester Americans, have announced forward Shawn O’Donnell has signed his qualifying offer and will return to the Cyclones for the 2018-19 season; his third with the organization.

“I am very excited to be coming back to Cincinnati for a third season,” said O’Donnell. “It is a tremendous organization and city with great fan support, and I cannot wait to get things started up again in the fall.”

O’Donnell appeared in 46 games with the Cyclones last season, ranking sixth on the team in scoring with 44 points (19g, 25a). He also added a pair of goals and a pair of assists in five playoff games. He enjoyed an 11-game point streak from November 18-December 29 (4g, 13a), and had multi-point efforts on 10 separate occasions, including a season-high four-point performance in a 5-3 win over the Ft. Wayne Komets on December 27. Overall, O’Donnell has appeared in 93 games with the Cyclones, accounting for 33 goals and 53 assists for 86 total points.

His ECHL career has also seen stops with the Greenville Road Warriors and Florida Everblades where he totaled four goals and eight assists in 17 games between the two sides. He also skated in 12 playoff games with the Everblades in 2013, dishing out a pair of assists. A native of Halifax, NS, O’Donnell has spent the bulk of his career in the AHL, appearing in 135 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack and Milwaukee Admirals, totaling seven goals and 11 assists in that span.

Prior to turning pro late in the 2012-13 season, the 6’2”, 209lb forward spent four years at St. Mary’s University in Canada. He was responsible for 62 points (24g, 38a) in 103 career games, including a career-high 26 points (14g, 12a) during his senior season in 2012-13. He served as the team’s Assistant Captain during his senior season, as well.
