CYCLONES BATTLE ALL NIGHT, CANNOT OVERCOME EARLY DEFICIT

Cincinnati Sees Three-Game Winning Streak Snapped

Indianapolis, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (29-12-6-0) fell to the Indy Fuel, 3-2, on Tuesday night. Forwards Mason Mitchell and Ben Johnson scored the goals for Cincinnati.

Indy wasted little time jumping on top, as a power play tally from forward Alex Rauter three minutes in, and an even-strength marker from Mathieu Foget at the 8:53 mark put the Fuel on top, 2-0.

Cincinnati was not deterred and trimmed their deficit to 2-1, 13:24 into the frame, when Mitchell intercepted an Indy clearing attempt and rifled home a shot from the high slot for his 15thgoal of the season.

The 2-1 Indy lead held up throughout the remainder of the first, and in the second Indy restored their two-goal lead when Foget lit the lamp for the second time to put the Fuel on top, 3-2, after 40 minutes.

Cincinnati continued to chip away in the third and pulled back to within one, 1:04 into the third, when Johnson took a pass from forward Jesse Schultz and found the back of the net to trim the Cyclones deficit to 3-2.

The Cyclones got a several more quality scoring chances as the third wore on, including a few while on the power play, and with the goaltender pulled late in the frame, however they could not get the equalizer and Indy held on for the 3-2 win.

The Cyclones outshot the Fuel, 24-20, with goaltender Jamie Phillips stopping 17 in his Cyclones debut. Cincinnati returns home on Friday night to take on the Toledo Walleye, in the first of a three-in-three. Face-off is slated for 7:35pm ET.
