John Dotson Named Director of Ticket Sales

John Dotson Named Director of Ticket Sales

The Cincinnati Cyclones have named John Dotson the team’s new Director of Ticket Sales ahead of the 2021-22 ECHL season. Dotson assumes this role in place of Dan Gruenberg, who departs the Cyclones after five years to accept a job outside of the professional sports scene.

Dotson, 29, returns to his hometown of Cincinnati after serving as a Ticket Sales Representative for the ECHL’s Toledo Walleye and Minor League Baseball’s Toledo Mudhens. The Oak Hills High School alum had specialized in season and group tickets for both organizations since 2016. After the 2018-19 ECHL season, John was named a finalist for the league’s annual Sales Professional of the Year Award.

“My wife and I are so happy to be back home in Cincinnati,” said Dotson. “It’s great to be back home amongst family and friends, but also great to be working for a winning organization like the Cyclones. There is a tremendous culture in this office and I’m thrilled to get this upcoming season started. I have to thank the Walleye and Mudhens. The leadership qualities I gained during my time in Toledo working under my Director Kyle Moll did so much for preparing me to have this role and opportunity here in Cincinnati.”

A 2015 graduate from the University of Cincinnati, Dotson earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration. His roots to the Queen City stem not only from his education, but also through his experience interning locally for the Cincinnati Reds and attending several Cyclones games as a fan growing up.

“John’s resume speaks for itself, but after getting to know him, I can say with confidence that he will be a positive, impactful Director of Ticket Sales for our team,” said Cyclones Vice President and General Manager Kristin Ropp. “Having a hometown kid at the helm is great and I look forward to seeing his personal growth in this position. Welcome back home, John!”
